Tunza Familia Chat (also referred to as the ‘chatbot’ or the ‘programme’ in this document) is designed in collaboration with the Health Promotion Section of the Ministry of Health, Tanzania. Tunza Familia Chat is managed by Development Media International Associates C.I.C (DMI). DMI designs and delivers behaviour change campaigns in low-income countries. DMI-Tanzania works in collaboration with ICT experts at Dephics Company Limited on Tunza Familia Chat.

DMI is an International Non-Government Organisation, registered in Tanzania with No. I-NGO/R2/000152. Registered Address: PO Box 517, Mwanza, Tanzania. DMI’s headquarters is a Community Interest Company registered in England and Wales under company number 6069322. The registered address is Canalside Studios, 8-14 St Pancras Way, London, NW1 0QG. Tunza Familia Chat allows parents and caregivers to get information about maternal and child health, especially for children under the age of five. Tunza Familia Chat uses WhatsApp’s chat service. The chatbot is managed through Turn.io, which offers a Software as a Service (SaaS) product for teams to develop chatbot with personal, guided conversations that improve lives at scale. Turn.io is a WhatsApp Business Solutions provider focused on the social impact sector.

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully. By using the programme, you agree that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

Your privacy is important to us – please also read Tunza Familia Chat’s Privacy Policy, which details how DMI collects, stores and uses the information that you provide to us. By using Tunza Familia Chat you are confirming that you are further agreeing to that Privacy Policy.

Rules of Usage

You are not allowed to modify the existing programme code or its contents or copy any Tunza Familia Chat trademarks. You should not translate any content into other languages or make derivative versions without permission from DMI. Attempts to obtain sensitive account information or other personal data is not permitted. You should also not falsely represent yourself in the use of the programme, make wrongful claims of affiliations to the programme, or make misleading reports of programme misconduct. Use of the programme must not also be in breach of any applicable laws or regulations.

The programme is not targeted towards anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from individuals under 18. In the case we discover that an individual under 18 has provided us with personal information (such as gender/name or nickname), we will delete this data from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to undertake the necessary actions.

Content Changes

DMI is committed to ensuring that the programme is as useful and user friendly as possible. For that reason, we reserve the right to make changes. The programme is free of charge. 

Intellectual Property

The programme itself, the trademarks, copyright, database rights and other intellectual property rights related to it, belongs to DMI. The use of names and emblems/logos of collaborating institutions are the exclusive property of DMI and are protected under international and national laws. Unauthorised use is prohibited. They may not be copied in any way without the prior written permission of DMI.

Security

Tunza Familia Chat processes personal data that you have provided to us, in order to offer our services. It is your responsibility to keep your phone and access to the programme secure. Removal of software restrictions and limitations imposed by the official operating system of your device is therefore not recommended. Doing so could make your phone vulnerable to malware and/or viruses, as well as compromise your phone’s security features and could mean that the programme will not work properly or at all. Please be aware that DMI exclude responsibility for the following:

  1. The functions of the programme will require the programme to have an active internet connection. DMI cannot take responsibility for the programme not working at full functionality if you do not have access to Wi-Fi, or you do not have any of your data allowance left.
  2. In using Tunza Family Chat, you agree to be responsible for any costs, including data costs. If you are not a bill payer of the device on which you are using the programme, please be aware that we assume that you have received permission from the bill payer by using the programme.
  3. DMI accepts no liability for any damage or loss, direct or indirect, you experience as a result of using the service, or arising from any reliance you may place on advice or information provided from the programme.   5. Tunza Familia Chat is available on WhatsApp. Updates of the app occur regularly in order to improve performance and content. The app is available on Android/IOS – the requirements for this system (and for any additional systems we decide to extend the availability of the app to) may change. It is your responsibility to download app updates to keep using the app. DMI is not responsible in updating WhatsApp so that it is relevant to you and/or works with the Android/ IOS version that you have installed on your device. However, you agree to always accept updates to the application when offered to you.

The chatbot is managed through Turn.io, which offers a Software as a Service (SaaS) product for teams to develop chatbot with personal, guided conversations that improve lives at scale. Turn.io is a WhatsApp Business Solutions provider focused on the social impact sector. What Information Does Tunza Familia Chat Collect and How Do We Use It?

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Data” means any information that enables us to identify an individual, directly or indirectly, by reference to an identifier such as name, gender, age range, location data, age and number of children under five years old. While using our programme, we may ask you to provide us with other personally identifiable information.

We process your data to help you with information on maternal and child’s health when you contact us, and also for analytics purposes (see section ‘Information Sharing’). The primary analytics purpose relates to improving how we provide information on maternal and child’s health digitally to reduce child mortality under five years and improve maternal and child health. DMI may use aggregated and anonymized data from our programme for further projects.

Feedback Submissions

Your feedback on the programme is important to us. We shall always anonymize your Personal Data when sharing and publishing your feedback verbatim more broadly. You can send feedback to dmitanzania@developmentmedia.net.

Information Sharing

Limited internal staff working on Tunza Familia Chat may have access to Personal Data collected via the programme as well as log data, as necessary to perform their duties regarding the operation of the programme. These data will only be accessed on a need-to-know basis, and all team members with access to the data are bound to confidentiality.

You agree that your Personal Data may be shared with third parties such as partners involved in the improvement or implementation of the programme including those outside your country. Prior to the disclosure of information with partners we will make anonymous to the extent possible and where appropriate, information such as chosen username and phone number (where collected). How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

Removing or Ceasing to Use Tunza Familia Chat

Should you decide to remove our programme or stop using Tunza Familia Chat then we may still retain some of your data (although anonymised) to troubleshoot, aid in investigations, comply with legal requirements or to add to our existing data sets. Intellectual Property

The programme itself, the trademarks, copyright, database rights and other intellectual property rights related to it, belongs to DMI. The use of names and emblems/logos of collaborating institutions are the exclusive property of DMI and are protected under international and national laws. Unauthorised use is prohibited. They may not be copied in any way without the prior written permission of DMI.

Security

Tunza Familia Chat processes personal data that you have provided to us, in order to offer our services. It is your responsibility to keep your phone and access to the programme secure. Removal of software restrictions and limitations imposed by the official operating system of your device is therefore not recommended. Doing so could make your phone vulnerable to malware and/or viruses, as well as compromise your phone’s security features and could mean that the programme will not work properly or at all. Disclaimer

Please be aware that DMI exclude responsibility for the following:

  1. The functions of the programme will require the programme to have an active internet connection. DMI cannot take responsibility for the programme not working at full functionality if you do not have access to Wi-Fi, or you do not have any of your data allowance left.
  2. In using Tunza Family Chat, you agree to be responsible for any costs, including data costs. If you are not a bill payer of the device on which you are using the programme, please be aware that we assume that you have received permission from the bill payer by using the programme.
  3. DMI accepts no liability for any damage or loss, direct or indirect, you experience as a result of using the service, or arising from any reliance you may place on advice or information provided from the programme. You should always exercise your own discretion and judgement appropriate to your own circumstances in relation to any advice or information provided from the programme.
  4. Tunza Family Chat is available on WhatsApp, any instances of software bugs, viruses or other malicious material transmitted by someone else via WhatsApp are regrettable, but DMI is not responsible.
  5. Tunza Familia Chat is available on WhatsApp. Updates of the app occur regularly in order to improve performance and content. The app is available on Android/IOS – the requirements for this system (and for any additional systems we decide to extend the availability of the app to) may change. It is your responsibility to download app updates to keep using the app. DMI is not responsible in updating WhatsApp so that it is relevant to you and/or works with the Android/ IOS version that you have installed on your device. However, you agree to always accept updates to the application when offered to you.

Tunza Familia Chat is designed in collaboration with the Health Promotion Section of the Ministry of Health, Tanzania. Tunza Familia Chat is managed by Development Media International Associates C.I.C (DMI). DMI designs and delivers behaviour change campaigns in low-income countries. DMI-Tanzania works in collaboration with ICT experts at Dephics Company Limited on Tunza Familia Chat.

DMI is an International Non-Government Organisation, registered in Tanzania with No. I-NGO/R2/000152. Registered Address: PO Box 517, Mwanza, Tanzania. DMI’s headquarters is a Community Interest Company registered in England and Wales under company number 6069322. The registered address is Canalside Studios, 8-14 St Pancras Way, London, NW1 0QG. Your data is important to us. This Privacy Policy sets out our policies for the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Data in the use of Tunza Familia Chat, a free, automatic information service via WhatsApp. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using Tunza Familia Chat, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy and your data will never be sold or shared with third parties without your consent, unless required to do by law. The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meaning as in our Terms & Conditions, which are accessible within the programme, unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Tunza Familia Chat allows parents and caregivers to get information about maternal and child health, especially for children under the age of five. Tunza Familia Chat uses WhatsApp’s chat service. WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy is available online at https://faq.whatsapp.com/1148840052398648/?helpref=uf_share. Every WhatsApp message is protected by the same Signal encryption protocol that secures messages before they leave a user’s device. When a user messages a WhatsApp business account, the message is delivered securely to the destination chosen by the business. The chatbot is managed through Turn.io, which offers a Software as a Service (SaaS) product for teams to develop chatbot with personal, guided conversations that improve lives at scale. Turn.io is a WhatsApp Business Solutions provider focused on the social impact sector. Turn.io adheres to international standards of data security and privacy of customer data (their policy and measures is available here: https://www.turn.io/legal/security).

What Information Does Tunza Familia Chat Collect and How Do We Use It?

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Data” means any information that enables us to identify an individual, directly or indirectly, by reference to an identifier such as name, gender, age range, location data, age and number of children under five years old. While using our programme, we may ask you to provide us with other personally identifiable information.

We process your data to help you with information on maternal and child’s health when you contact us, and also for analytics purposes (see section ‘Information Sharing’). The primary analytics purpose relates to improving how we provide information on maternal and child’s health digitally to reduce child mortality under five years and improve maternal and child health. DMI may use aggregated and anonymized data from our programme for further projects.

Feedback Submissions

Information Sharing

Limited internal staff working on Tunza Familia Chat may have access to Personal Data collected via the programme as well as log data, as necessary to perform their duties regarding the operation of the programme. These data will only be accessed on a need-to-know basis, and all team members with access to the data are bound to confidentiality.

You agree that your Personal Data may be shared with third parties such as partners involved in the improvement or implementation of the programme including those outside your country. Prior to the disclosure of information with partners we will make anonymous to the extent possible and where appropriate, information such as chosen username and phone number (where collected). In reading and accepting this Privacy Policy, you permit us to use your anonymized data in published research.

How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

We will only retain your Personal Data for as long as we need it to fulfil our purposes, including any relating to the programme services as well as legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

How Do We Keep Your Data Secure?

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Data, thus we are striving to implement reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We also reserve the right to the storage of your data on third party servers or databases outside of the Tunza Familia Chat team. Removing or Ceasing to Use Tunza Familia Chat

Should you decide to remove our programme or stop using Tunza Familia Chat then we may still retain some of your data (although anonymised) to troubleshoot, aid in investigations, comply with legal requirements or to add to our existing data sets.
