Priority countries

We work predominantly (but not exclusively) in sub-Saharan Africa. We have a particular interest in countries where maternal and child mortality are not declining fast enough to meet the 2015 Millennium Development Goals.

Predicted health impact by country

We have prioritised fundraising for countries with a high burden of disease, low coverage of the health interventions that can reduce maternal and child mortality, few existing health promotion campaigns, and strong media penetration, even in rural areas. Many (but not all) of these countries are in West and Central Africa.

We are currently designing health behaviour change campaigns in a range of countries across sub-Saharan Africa, and are looking for partners and funders through our Media Million Lives initiative.

In some countries our statistical model predicts that we can reduce child mortality by over 20%, just through mass media campaigns. Hover over the countries in orange on the map below to see the predicted number of under-five lives that we can save each year through mass media campaigns. The countries selected are purely illustrative, and their inclusion on this map does not necessarily mean that we are actively planning to work there.
